The HP EliteBook 1040 G7 is a high-performance business laptop designed for professionals seeking power, portability, and advanced security. Below is a detailed breakdown of its key specifications and features:
Processor & Performance of Elitebook 1040 G7
– Intel Core i7-10th Gen: Powered by the 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor, the EliteBook 1040 G7 delivers robust performance for multitasking, complex tasks, and business applications. It ensures smooth execution of demanding software, offering speed and efficiency in day-to-day operations.

Memory Options
– 16GB or 32GB RAM: The laptop offers configurations with either 16GB or 32GB of DDR4 RAM, which allows for seamless multitasking and handling of large datasets or memory-intensive applications. The large memory capacity is ideal for professionals working with resource-heavy programs, such as those in design, video editing, or data analysis.
Storage of the HP Elitebook 1040 G7
– 512GB SSD: With a 512GB SSD (Solid-State Drive), the EliteBook 1040 G7 provides fast data access speeds and ample storage for large files and programs. SSD technology improves boot times, application loading, and overall system responsiveness compared to traditional hard drives.

Display & Graphics
The 14-inch diagonal display offers an immersive, bright, and clear viewing experience. The **touchscreen** feature adds a layer of versatility, enabling intuitive navigation, drawing, and note-taking capabilities. The display supports Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), delivering sharp visuals, making it suitable for media consumption, presentations, and collaborative work.
With its sleek aluminum chassis, the EliteBook 1040 G7 weighs just around 2.9 pounds, making it highly portable for professionals on the go. The laptop combines durability with a premium design, ensuring it is both aesthetically pleasing and rugged enough for daily use.
Slim bezels around all four sides of the display help keep the size down and draw your eyes toward the 14-inch panel. The EliteBook x360 1040 G7 doesn’t have the most exciting design, it being rather monochrome — the silver hue on the deck, lid touchpad and underside is interrupted only by black keys. However, the attention to detail put into the design makes you forget about the staid color choices.
As 2-in-1 laptops, the Elitebook 1040 G7 converts from a laptop into a tablet when you rotate the screen backward. The dual hinges on both notebooks were rigid enough to prevent the screen from wobbling when I tapped on it, yet not so strong that adjusting the lid presented problems.

Battery Life
The laptop offers a long battery life, enabling users to work for extended periods without needing to recharge. This is particularly beneficial for those working remotely or traveling frequently.
Security Features of the HP Elitebook 1040 G7
The EliteBook series is known for its robust security features, which include HP Sure View (an optional privacy screen), a fingerprint reader, facial recognition, and HP Sure Start (BIOS protection). These features ensure data protection and defend against potential breaches, making it a great choice for business users.
Both common biometric login features, an IR camera and fingerprint sensor, come standard on the EliteBook x360 1040, although it took me forever to figure out where to place my finger. Instead of using a discrete sensor on the deck, or integrating it into the power button, HP chose to place the sensor on its own key between the Alt and Ctrl keys. It’s a strange placement, but it gets the job done once you know where to look.

HP packages a ton of security software with its enterprise notebooks. Focusing on the hardware, the EliteBook has a TPM 2.0 chip to ensure data going to and from the laptop is encrypted. You can also outfit the laptops with Sure View, a polarized screen that purposefully reduces viewing angles to block out spying eyes . Here’s a review about this machine.
Ports & Connectivity of the Elitebook 1040 G7
The laptop includes a variety of ports such as USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and a headphone/microphone combo jack, allowing for versatile connectivity options. It also supports Wi-Fi 6, which delivers faster wireless speeds and better network stability in busy environments.
On the right side of the EliteBook 1040 G7 are two Thunderbolt 3 ports (used for charging), a USB 3.1 Type-A port, and an HDMI next to a small power indicator light. I wish one of the USB Type-C inputs was on the other side so you could charge from either.

Additional Features of the Elitebook 1040 G7
The backlit keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions, and the speakers, powered by Bang & Olufsen, provide high-quality audio, suitable for video conferences or media playback.
The clicky, clack keys on the Elitebook 1040 G7 backlit chiclet-style keyboard make a satisfying sound when you depress them. Key travel is good given the size constraints and you will have no qualms with the spacing.
